First Coast Signs, Inc. Reports Steady Growth In Business for Greater Jacksonville Area!

First Coast Signs, Inc., a Jacksonville, Florida custom sign manufacturer with particular emphasis on “print it and stick it”, is today reporting phenomenal success. According to President Rebecca Walden, “we are experiencing success in making inroads with local fleet managers and business owners and one major National Account, CruiseOne, for whom we have wrapped vehicles coast to coast.”

However, Walden has said that she and team were “delighted that more and more Greater Jacksonville companies are using us for their fleet graphics and entrusting us with their corporate brand. We are particularly proud to be the named vehicle graphics provider for CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. and have wrapped vehicles coast to coast featuring cruise ships and all inclusive vacation sites.”

Claiming that they able maintain a much tighter handle on the quality and timeliness of their projects, Walden says the means by which they are able to be so good at what they do result from their “sticking” to what they can either print or cut in house and then “stick” that to a substrate or surface.

“This encompasses vehicle wraps and graphics, windows, walls, floors, doors in addition to posters, lobby logos, trade show presentations, etc.,” notes Walden, whose company, First Coast Signs, targets fleet service managers in charge of branding their corporate vehicles and maintaining them on a regular basis.

“Once we have their design and are familiar with the make and model of their vehicles, it can save significant time in getting those service vehicles on the road for them,” says the company spokesperson, who believes getting to know the decision maker or their designee and establishing a relationship greatly streamlines the process.

Ken Kindt, Owner of Signworld says is all praise for Walden. Ken Kindt says, “Walden, a native of Detroit and Jacksonville resident since 2006 is dedicated to customer satisfaction and the highest caliber of customer service. Jack Werner, Executive VP of Signworld says about Walden,  “The clients can be certain, relative to what materials have been agreed upon and time frame agreed upon, the quality of the project, which is depending on the number of vehicles being wrapped or having graphics installed, of their quality workman ship. Walden has been doing a great job over the years and we wish her all the best for her future endeavors.”

Signworld’s 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Auction

Laguna Hills, CA – May 28th, 2013 —

Signworld Charity AuctionRecently, the Signworld corporate team hosted the 3rd Annual Signworld Charity Golf Tournament and Silent Auction at the Arroyo Golf Course, located at the Red Rock Country Club in Las Vegas, NV.  The tournament, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, was attended by independent owners from the Signworld organization, staff members, as well as members from Signworld’s Preferred Parters.  Participants spent the day on the golf course having fun, networking and more importantly, building awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Wounded Warrior Project is one of the most widely known foundations built to empower and honor wounded veterans and their families upon their return to the states from active duty due to unfortunate injury.

“We hope that with our small gesture we are able to make a big impact with our efforts.  We are pleased with the turnout of the event, which started out very small and continues to grow every year as a private event.  Anything we can do to assist in the mission of the WWP and other organizations like it, we’re happy to do.  There are a lot of veterans coming home, more than at any other time in our history, and they need every bit of support they have offered by putting their lives on the line to secure our freedoms reciprocated ten-fold.”  Said Dan Werner of the event.

Signworld has committed to continuing its efforts to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project as well as many other great organizations built to assist veterans.  Signworld is also currently reviewing many great charity organizations to focus on for its 2014 Special Mission Partner Program.

Signworld Celebrates 25 Years

Laguna Hills, CA – January 25th, 2013 – Signworld, a turn-key sign business opportunity, announces the celebration of 25 years in business.

Ken Kindt - Signworld 1988

Ken Kindt unveiling Signworld at a tradeshow on January 30, 1988

Since 1988, Signworld has evolved from a single retail sign company, offering simple cut graphic signs, to an organization consisting of 260 commercial sign companies, spread across North America, offering everything from banners and tradeshow displays to monument signs and channel letters.

Signworld founder, Ken Kindt, with years of experience as a financial planner and as an executive for Ford Motor Co., had a passion for manufacturing and a strong desire to be an entrepreneur.  Thus, Signworld’s precursor was created as a single sign company,  fulfilling the growing need for signs as businesses continued to grow around him.  Kindt soon realized that his business model could be duplicated, but the thought of franchising didn’t appeal to him.  He opposed all of the rules and royalties enforced by franchise concepts and felt they would hinder the ability for the small business owner to grow, and more importantly, maintain control of their success.  Kindt determined that a business opportunity or a licensing model would best suit his concept, hence  Signworld was established  on January 25, 1988, in Honolulu, HI.

“What started out 25 years ago as a desire to create a system that could be duplicated in the small manufacturing setting, while also creating an alternative to the restrictive franchise world, far exceeded any expectations that I had during our very humble beginning.  We’ve made a lot of progress over the last 25 years, Signworld has transitioned from the retail store front to a light industrial property; from marketing in the yellow pages to utilizing the power of websites and internet dominance; from simple vinyl signs to large format photographic signage, displayed in unique ways and places; and from a handful of entrepreneurs to a family of 260 Signworld Owners, spread across the United States and Canada”, stated Kindt.

Jack Werner, Executive V.P. of Signworld and a former Signworld Owner says, “Signworld started in 1988 with a handful of operations trained by the Signworld staff and loosely connected to each other.  Over the years, the organization has grown to over 260 operations throughout the US and into Canada. Many have been passed from generation to generation. Camaraderie has increased, interaction has flourished with owners sharing projects, advising each other on suppliers and best practices, forming mastermind groups, attending internal webinars, and creating a network of close knit allies meeting annually to share and learn together. Over the years Signworld has become a “family”. It’s the one feature that truly makes us unique as an organization and makes me proud to be a part of”.

Of the many changes that have been made over the years is the use of the internet for marketing.  “The Internet has offered a unique opportunity to market your business more effectively than ever before. It allows the content to be driven by your customer base rather than traditional methods of creating an advertisement that you want your customers to buy into.  Best of all, most web-based marketing is free and can be easily modified without the help of a professional.  The internet is always working and potential customers are always searching for solutions.  With our internet marketing model, many owners attain 50%+ of their new business from the web, making an owners web presence an unpaid and highly successful sales representative.” Dan Werner, V.P. of Operations, added.

Sign technology has also come a long way in the last 25 years.  “What started out as simple cut-graphic signs, made on a small vinyl cutter, has morphed into photo-realistic images being printed on a number of materials, via inkjet technology.  The inks, equipment, materials and application processes have improved immensely in a relatively short period of time.  Signworld has stayed on the forefront of  new industry technology by working closely with manufacturers and suppliers and will continue to stay at the top of the technological pyramid”  stated Paul Wagner, Signworld’s V.P. of Technology since 1990.

Signworld’s 2013 Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit the Wounded Warrior Project

Signworld is excited to announce that the 2013 Signworld Golf Tournament will once again be held in conjunction with the 2013 Signworld Convention and more importantly will again benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

The tournament will be held at the Arroyo Golf Club at Red Rock on Thursday, April 18th, 2013.

Last year was the first year that we decided to utilize the power of the group and turn our annual tournament into a charity event.  A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit a great cause.  We’re excited to be back at the Arroyo Golf Club and more importantly that we are working hard to raise awareness and funds for the Wounded Warrior Project.  We have a number of Veterans in our organization as well as a good number of sons and daughters of our owners that  are veterans so we are glad that the charity of choice is one that is somewhat ‘close to home’. said Dan Werner, Signworld V.P. of Operations.

The 2012 Signworld Golf Tournament had 50 entries and Signworld looks to grow that number for the 2013 tournament.

Ken Kindt, President and Founder of Signworld, said “The function of the golf tournament is three-fold.  First, we want to provide an event at our convention that creates an opportunity for our owners and suppliers to let loose a little bit and relax before a long weekend of learning.  Second, we wanted to utilize our fun opportunity to raise money and awareness for a great cause.  And, lastly, we wanted to utilize the event as an informal opportunity for our owners and vendors to network and build a relationship.  They say that more business is done on a golf course than a boardroom, we’re just facilitating the opportunity.”

Signworld expects the 2013 tournament to have over 75 entries making it the largest tournament held by Signworld and resulting in good exposure for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Signworld Announces Their 2013 Convention Dates

Signworld is excited to announce that the 2013 Signworld Annual Convention is scheduled for April 18-21, 2013 at the newly renovated Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.

Jack Werner, Signworld’s Executive V.P. says of the announcement, “…we’re extremely excited to be at the Tropicana Hotel for our 2013 event.  The venue will allow for our growing group to spreadout much more in the past and take advantage of the the opportunity to host more training sessions than ever before.  We are also very excited about the prospects of our growing tradeshow.  With  more space than ever before, we’ll be able to expose our group to additional vendors and products lines that we have not had the space for before.”

Signworld made a bold move in after the 2009 Convention to break away from it’s tradition of following the International Sign Association and hold it’s own stand-alone event.  The 2013 Convention will be the 3rd since that transition and is expected to be attended by record numbers of both Signworld Owners and Preferred Signworld Vendors.

“We did a great thing for our group by moving away from the ISA tradeshow and holding our own independent event.  Our attendance numbers continue to go up both from our owner population as well as our vendor population.  We keep working hard to make sure that the sessions being provided are current, that the suppliers in attendance are at the top of their niche markets, and, that the quality of the overall event continues to improve each year.  The convention is a great opportunity for owners to take advantage of the complimentary upgrade training and we want to make sure that our group remains interested in attending each and every year. I think that our owner population will be pleased with what we have in store for 2013!”, said Dan Werner, Signworld V.P. of Operations.

The Tropicana is set on the south end of the Strip, with easy access to all of the entertainment venues Vegas has to offer, the hotel’s South Beach inspired décor offers the glitz and glam of Vegas but with an all new, fresh, tropical feel. Enjoy one of the Strip’s truly legendary casinos or escape to the pool, voted “Best in Las Vegas” and set on two acres of lush landscaping, waterfalls and grassy decks. As you might suspect, we are excited to be back on the Strip and we think our Signworld Owners will be pleasantly surprised and pleased with the location.

Signworld Attends The SGIA Show In Las Vegas

Members from the Signworld Corporate team recently attended the SGIA, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association, Tradeshow in Las Vegas, NV.  The tradeshow featured over 500 vendors exposing sign & graphic companies to their raw materials, sub-contracted goods and equipment.  Signworld spent most of the day reviewing products and equipment that could be beneficial additions for the Signworld organization.

Paul Wagner, Signworld’s V.P. of Technology said of his experience at the show, “I attend a number of industry tradeshows every year to stay privy to new raw materials being provided for the digital printing industry as well as new equipment that could be utilized by our network.  I found the show to be one of the better ones that I’ve attended in 2012 and was able to learn about a number of new materials that could help our group of independent owners provide a better offering to their customer base.  Along with that, I was able to spend some time with some of our most valued vendor partners to make sure that our offering through those channels and the support provided is always a step above what the traditional independent sign company might have access to.”

“The SGIA has done a great job building their show into what it is today.  I’m glad that I was able to break away from the office for the day to attend, meet with some of our valued vendor partners and more importantly, start the education process on new products and materials.  We have a great vendor program put together for the Signworld family but we are always looking at ways to make it better.  I had the chance to meet with quite a few potential vendors that have a great line-up of products.  All of which would be a great addition for the Signworld Owners in expanding their businesses.” said Dan Werner, Signworld V.P. of Operations.

Signworld Holds Another Successful Annual Convention

Signworld Convention

Signworld recently held its Annual Convention and Tradeshow in late April at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas, the site of some of Las Vegas’s oldest signs.  The successful private event which is hosted for Signworld Owners from all over North America was attended by over 200 Signworld Owners and their employees making it the largest attended event in Signworld’s 24 year history.

The annual convention and tradeshow put on by Signworld provided free upgrade training for each owner and their employees as well as complimentary meals during their stay.  Ken Kindt says of the event, “We pride ourselves in being able to provide an annual event that includes all of the amenities that we offer.  There are not too many franchise/business opportunity organizations out there that are willing to offer free upgrade training and complimentary meals throughout the event.  Our goal each year is to make the event better each year, while still maintaining the ability to make it virtually free to the individual outside of their travel expense.”

The Convention consisted of 30+ seminars, panel discussions and roundtable discussions aimed at teaching those in attendance new techniques to run their business more efficiently and more profitably, new products that are available to them and the marketing opportunities with those products as well as industry trends.  Signworld also offered a full schedule of events for sign-makers (employees of Signworld locations) where they were able to learn new vehicle wrap techniques and design tips, color management and new ways to maximize their current equipment.

The tradeshow portion of the convention continued on the same path of growth that it has experienced over the past few years growing from 38 vendors displaying their goods at the 2011 event, to 50 vendors displaying their goods at the 2012 event.  Trish Tratos of Spot-On Signs said of the convention portion, “It was really great to meet the reps that we have been talking to on the phone or have emailed in the past.  The variety of exhibitors in attendance was amazing and it really opened our eyes to the possibilities of growth in the sign industry.  It’s easy to get in a rut and use the same vendors over and over if you are not careful, so this event really recharged us on getting more involved with other vendors that may offer better pricing or products.  Signworld did a great job of putting the event together and we look forward to taking what we learned at the convention and implementing it into our business.”

Signworld Raises Money And Awareness For The Wounded Warrior Project

Signworld benefits Wounded Warrior ProjectSignworld recently held its Annual Golf Outing in conjunction with the Signworld Annual Convention and Tradeshow. Signworld Corporate decided that it was time to utilize the event, which over the past few years has seen a rise in attendance, to raise awareness and money for a great cause. With much consideration for many great causes, the charity of choice for the 2012 outing was the Wounded Warrior Project.

“The choice of the Wounded Warrior Project as our charity of focus became much more apparent as the right choice to us after the decision had been made. Signworld has a number of Veterans in the group, some who were injured during duty and some who weren’t, and we are eternally grateful for their service which has helped protect our Freedoms. In fact, shortly before the golf outing, we received notice at HQ that the son of a Signworld Owner was injured in a firefight in Afghanistan. We are happy to announce that he will make a full recovery, but when that news crossed our desks, we knew we were supporting the right cause with this year’s event.” Said Dan Werner, VP of Operations for Signworld.

The outing, held at The Arroyo Golf Club in Las Vegas, had 52 participants consisting of Signworld Owners, Preferred Vendors, Signworld Corporate Staff and Signworld’s special guest of honor, Ret. Army and Marine Corp. Sergeant, Joseph Perez. Joseph, who is a wounded warrior himself, is also a WWP Mentor. Joseph joined in on the fun and had a great day on the course not only playing a great round of golf, but also raising awareness of the WWP and the contributions they make to wounded vets coming home from combat.

Jack Werner, EVP of Signworld, said of the outing, “We had a great day on the course with a great group of people and we were ultimately able to do something that we preach quite often to our owners, ‘Be philanthropic’. We were able to raise awareness for a great cause and more importantly raise a good amount of money that will help in the rehabilitation process of injured vets coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other warzones around the world. We look forward to supporting the WWP and other worthy causes through our events for years to come”

Signworld Celebrates its 24th Birthday!

At Signworld’s Annual Corporate Meetings, Signworld celebrated in style with a few of Signworld’s vendor partners, Signworld Owners and Franchise Coaches in Honolulu.  Signworld, celebrating its 24th birthday, has accomplished quite a bit and has a lot to be proud of since its humble beginnings as a small sign company in the mid-1980’s.

A proKen Kindt Attends 24th Birthday Celebrations of Signworld Corporationud Ken Kindt, the President and Founder of Signworld, said, “It’s amazing to think back when Signworld was founded in 1988.  24 years ago, I had a vision and a dream to take the successful practices of my very own sign company and turn that into a turn-key business opportunity where there was a support system in place that I didn’t have as a small business start-up.  I wasn’t a believer in the franchise concepts when it came to rules and royalty payments.  I also wasn’t a fan of a nationwide brand identity, because in manufacturing brand identity isn’t important.  I didn’t want one Signworld Owners success to be hindered by another’s mistakes just because of a brand name.  So my mission from the very beginning was to help individuals truly own their own business and brand identity while having access to a support system that is not available to traditional business start-ups.  Thus the idea for Signworld to be a business opportunity was born.  I’m very proud to say that after 24 years of helping individuals achieve their dream of business ownership, I am still excited and anxious to come to my desk each morning and find out what the owners in the organization are up to and help them find ways to make their businesses better.  I’m also extremely grateful for the organizations growth and the friendships I have made with the Owners along the way.”

Jack Werner Attends 24th Birthday Celebrations of Signworld CorporationJack Werner, Signworld’s Executive V.P., said, “I am extremely proud of the accomplishments Signworld has had over the last 24 years.  In my previous life, I was a Signworld Owner for 10 years.  I decided in 1995 that Signworld was the right business for me and my family.  If it wasn’t for the success of Ken Kindt, Signworld and the Signworld Owners, I wouldn’t have had the validation in needed to know that this was the right business for me.  I’ve experience the joy of success as a business owner, now in my role as Executive V.P. with Signworld, I have experienced the joy of helping others find their success through the Signworld model.  I know that everyone in the corporate office, the owners across North America and the vendor partners we have added along the way, are all excited for the bright future Signworld has in store even though it is a mature business model.”

Over the last 24 years, Signworld has seen many owners accomplish their dream of business ownership, build wealth, take advantage of the freedom and flexibility of business ownership as well as enjoy the spoils of building their own future.

Rebecca Walden, Owner of First Coast Signs, Jacksonville, FL

Rebecca Waldon - Signworld Review & Signworld Testimonials

“My experience with the Signworld corporate staff has been exceptional.  They are always responsive, helpful and fully committed to assisting in any way possible to ensure owners’ success.  They are generous with their time, ideas and suggestions.  They will be there as much as you want/need them to be or as little.  I have very much appreciated their candor and concern.  Unlike what I’ve heard about other business models, they are the polar opposite of “take the money and run”.  The effort put into providing quality programs at our annual conference, educational webinars throughout the year and vetting vendors nationwide to make sure we are privy to the best pricing and service is phenomenal.

Relative to the Signworld family of individual owners at large, I have never had a more experienced “support group”.  Not only within my weekly Mastermind group of Signworld Owners but beyond I can always count on getting prompt answers and excellent advice.  Again, the willingness to share is perhaps the best I’ve experienced in any position I’ve held corporately.  We regularly share “war stories” and let each other know what mistake we may have recently made to spare our fellow owners the expense and frustration of making the same error.  That just does not happen in corporate America where everyone tends to guard their resources and never admits to a mistake.

As a Signworld owner, you are plugged into 24 years of collective expertise.  I am limited only by my willingness to take advantage of it and apply the shared advice of those who have gone before me.”

Ken Kindt and Jack Werner Recognize First Coast Signs

First Coast Signs - Signworld Jacksonville, FL

Ken Kindt, President and Founder of Signworld, and Jack Werner, Vice President of Signworld, would like to congratulate Rebecca and Carlton Walden of First Coast Signs, a Signworld operation in Jacksonville, FL for the recent addition of a large customer with a nationwide presence.

By virtue of a contact in Rebecca’s BNI chapter, First Coast Signs is being promoted as the preferred provider of vehicle wraps for Cruise One and Cruises Inc., a cruise vacation agency with representatives throughout the country.

Rebecca and Carlton and begun the process of lining up vehicle wraps for these individual reps and currently have completed one full wrap on a Ford Escape, a partial wrap on a Pathfinder and will have a Magnum completed within a week.

First Coast Signs had the design concept “blessed” by Corporate Headquarters with the first vehicle, the Ford Escape.  The same concept theme is used as other agents come on board and First Coast Signs “retro fits” it to accommodate their vehicles.  The agents may select from various approved images provided by the Cruise Lines to feature what matches the agents’ most popular ships and destinations.

First Coast Signs was able to wrap the Ford Escape in Jacksonville.  Even though the owners live in Atlanta, they were heading to Ft. Lauderdale for the annual sales conference held aboard the Allure of the Seas.  The owners dropped their vehicle off on the way down, rented a car for the remainder of the trip, and First Coast Signs owners Carlton and Rebecca Walden drove the freshly wrapped vehicle sporting the new logo unveiled at the conference to pick the owners up at disembarkation.

Both the Pathfinder and Magnum are examples of fellow Signworld owners “playing together nicely”.  Rebecca reached out to Mike Bothwell, again in the metropolitan Atlanta area to wrap the Pathfinder and Martin Neill in Irvine, CA is on board to take care of wrapping the Magnum in the next few days.  By Signworld owners working together, it has allowed Rebecca and First Coast Signs to keep the customer, and allow others to help with installation.

Rebecca says of the project, “We are so thankful that we are with the Sigworld organization when it comes to a project like this.  Signworld allows us to keep the large customers like this in order to help us grow our business outside of our region with the help and support of the Signworld family to complete portions of the project that we can physically put our hands on.  The organization truly works like a family and not as competition, we are in this together and that is a something that shows us we joined the right group to achieve our goals.”
