Clients like H.G. Fenton manage properties all over San Diego County. As we have worked regularly to provide signage to them, and tenants, they reached out to us to provide a monument commercial sign for one of their business parks located in Carlsbad, CA. They needed to replace the current sign, and have one that brought visibility to some of the tenants. As we consulted with them, we rose to the occasion to provide a custom commercial monument sign suited just right!
Proper signage is vital to businesses, particularly retail establishments. As the monument was located on the busy main street, there exists many opportunities for drivers to gain visibility to the businesses inside. Having selected four prominent businesses to feature on the commercial sign, we began the design process to see what they had in mind.
The process began with a site survey to take photos and measurements of the signage area. In order to re-use the existing concrete base, we consulted with an engineering firm to verify that the plans for the new commercial sign monument would withstand the wind, as well as the elements.
We designed an attractive commercial sign that worked with the existing concrete base, utilized quality aluminum construction, firm and secure. H.G. Fenton selected four of the tenants to feature on the monument, and we provided spaces for each one with their logos digitally printed with UV laminate. The double-sided non-illuminated monument featured more than just the address numbers (like the old sign), but had attractive graphics on both sides.
For the business park name and address numbers, we used dimensional lettering in acrylic, instead of the previous cut-vinyl graphics. Acrylic will endure for years, and will look much more professional for the commercial business park.
Once we had the client’s approval on the design and construction, we acquired the sign permit from the City of Carlsbad. We worked with the Planning Department to update the business park’s Comprehensive Sign Program (CSP) for the maximum sign allowances. The process included a 30-day review period, but it was important to have all the documents updated for the approvals. Once we the permit was obtained, we could begin fabrication and schedule the installation.
The final sign measured 66” tall by 120” wide, and 18” deep. Double-sided using .090 aluminum panel construction, it could withstand the elements for years to come.
Tenants were pleased, as was the landlord, to have this new attractive commercial sign at the entrance to their business park.
