Expanding a brand into a new location is always an exciting, fast-paced time, with a lot of details for the business to handle. Expansion is a good thing, of course, but it does require some work. Lucha Libre Taco Shop, one of San Diego’s hot spots, decided to open a restaurant at the Shoppes at Carlsbad. That move meant the company needed a new electric channel letters for their restaurant sign, for which they called our experienced team at North Coast Signs.
This is a restaurant that people love. The first location opened in 2008, drawing huge crowds who love the restauranteur’s focus on high quality, unique ingredients, mouthwatering meals, and excellent customer service. The Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop was an excellent addition to Carlsbad and we were excited to help out in getting the new location just right.
Lucha Libre’s move was made all the more complicated by the fact that a different sign vendor had dropped the ball. They called us in November, needing a sign ready by Thanksgiving. It was a tight schedule, but we were happy to rise to the occasion to get it done. We’re able to produce electric channel letters for restaurant signs by the deadline.
To make sure the sign fit in with the landlord’s requirements, we completed a site survey and scaled the Lucha Libre logo to fit the 1:1 ratio for storefront linear footage and maximum sign square footage. We also suggested sign materials that would fit in with the sign program, and secured landlord approval as well as handling the permitting with the city of Carlsbad.
There were a lot of various pieces to the final electric channel letters for restaurant sign. We worked mainly in acrylic, but we did create the “Lucha Libre” letters in aluminum, at 16 inches high with two-inch returns, painted black and pin-mounted with one-inch standoffs. We used UL certified LEDs and a quality 100w LED supply for illumination. A center panel, also created in aluminum, added to the eye-catching illumination. We created a reverse pan mask with black polymetal and a full-color digital print, and added additional dimensional letters in non-illuminated acrylic as well as a laser cut acrylic center panel, dots and a filigree border, and white cut vinyl suite numbers.
