Do you own a hotel or other business that has a monument sign in front of your building or on your property?
We work with businesses of all kinds helping them with various sign solutions to help market their business and create a better brand. Often, we put together large sign packages that include branding on various levels, from office nameplates all the way up to a large exterior lighted building sign. For this project, we were called in to do a makeover on the existing monument sign.
West Inn & Suites is a great hotel located in Carlsbad, California, right at the intersection of Canon Road and Avenida Encinas. It’s a very busy intersection with a lot of traffic passing by on a daily basis. One of the easiest ways to market your business is to take advantage of storefront and street front traffic. Knowing this, they had a monument sign installed a long time ago. However, due to the effects of time, the sign wasn’t as functional or visible as needed.
SOLUTION 1
One of the issues with the sign was the background and overall color scheme. This sign features three different logos that represent the three different entities located on the property, which had all been recently updated. And the background color on the old sign made it hard to see the logos clearly. To help make the sign much easier to read, we changed the color of the background on the sign faces and updated all the logos, which gave the logos more pop. To match the new color scheme, we also had to paint the monument sign frame that surrounds the faces. As you can see in the images in this article, the individual logos within the sign are much more attractive and visible now.
SOLUTION 2
The other issue with the sign was illumination. The old monument sign was illuminated with fluorescent tubes inside, which had stopped working, and also had an old LED light strip surrounding the face of the sign. In general, the logos at night were virtually invisible. Therefore, we updated the lighting to a better LED lighting system that features new lights distributed throughout the interior of the monument sign. This spreads the light more evenly, making the panels glow brightly.
The main purpose of a monument sign is to display your logo or brand, out on the edge of a street, in order to notify people of your location. For many businesses, they are located inside a business park or off the main road. If people can’t clearly read your monument sign, and if it isn’t illuminated, you’re missing out on a lot of potential with new customers. In addition, you aren’t making it much easier for your existing customers to find you.
