We were pleased to get an order for two new exterior directory signs. The client was a commercial landlord in San Diego who owned an office building complex in Carlsbad. Their existing directory signs were starting to look outdated and weathered. The client wanted to replace them with something more inviting and professional. They hoped to lease out the remaining unfilled office space, and the new exterior directory signs would be the first step of a general refurbishment. In the end we came up with a design the client was extremely pleased with.
You can see the new exterior directory sign in the photo. Elegant and sturdy, the sign is painted dark brown with white lettering. The eight single-sided panels are removable, which means changing tenant names is straightforward. The ivory arch at the top is suggestive of the building’s architecture.
We loved working with this client, and have since developed a business relationship which has given us several repeat orders. The office building is located in a leafy business park and has a beautiful brick staircase at the front with curving balustrades. It’s a classy place to work and we’re proud to have contributed to the signage.
The old signs were made of wood. These can look attractive and natural for a while but need constant maintenance to protect them from the rain and sun. We made the replacements with aluminum and coated them in a tough exterior paint. The sign frame measures 49” high by 36” wide and is 3” thick. It holds eight single-sided removable panels with the tenants’ names and office locations. The signs are rooted into the ground on 8’ aluminum posts with concrete footings.
Directory signs serve a practical purpose: guiding visitors to the right office. But they can also say a lot about the quality of what’s behind the walls; not only the decor but the standard of the professional services offered. This is why at North Coast Signs we take the responsibility of delivering quality products for our client very seriously. A directory sign is often a visitor’s first impression of the business, and it has to be well designed and maintained. Our signs are extremely durable and easy to clean, so they always look great.
