We’ve worked with Grafskoy Hindeloopen Ltd., an architecture firm in Santa Barbara, California, for numerous projects where they require signage. For this office building in Goleta, California, the client wanted to get two monument signs to display tenant information. Both of the signs are double-sided tenant signs made mostly from aluminum.

The signs have a concrete base with a 2″ square tube attached to the concrete with bolts. We built an aluminum framework that was welded to the square tube. The aluminum framework is made from aluminum angle with 1/8″ thick walls. We then attached .090 aluminum to the framework. The front, back, and top pieces were installed with Loctite, and the sides there attached with screws so they could be removed if needed.

Since the tenants can change, the panels are removable. The tenant’s logos were cut from brushed aluminum vinyl and applied onto an aluminum face that is 1/4″ thick and powder coated. The aluminum faces are mounted onto the monument sign with studs and nuts. The address is something that is not going to change so it didn’t have to be removable. “601 PINE AVE” is also cut from brushed aluminum vinyl and applied directly onto the monument sign. Brushed aluminum vinyl is a metallic silver vinyl that mimics the effects of aluminum that has a brushed finish. It is a great option when you want a metal look but you don’t want 3-dimensional letters.

This is a non-illuminated sign so everything is opaque. We can also make internally illuminated signs where the tenant panels can light up, or just the letters can light up. There are many different options when it comes to monument signs, and we can create something personalized just for you property. We also handle all of the permitting paperwork and installation.
