One of the first things you consider when starting on a sign design is the location of the sign. The location is important because you want to choose a space where the sign will be seen, and it also dictates how large the sign can be. Exterior signs have limitations based on permitting, but interior signs do not need to be permitted so you are only limited in a physical capacity.
Vista Charter School had a lot of interior space, so we were able to put up numerous wall graphics of all different shapes and sizes throughout the campus. Spaces with high ceiling such as gyms and cafeterias are perfect for large wall graphics. We also added inspirational words along the hallways and different country names all around the interior.
For window graphics we use regular vinyl, but for wall graphics we use car wrap material. This is because interior walls are not as smooth as glass, and the vinyl may not stay up as well. Car wrap material is very durable and our number one choice for wall graphics and any other wrap that is not going on smooth, clean glass. The installation took multiple days, and we needed to rent a lift for the gym wall decal due to its size.
