brushed aluminum unit number signs with Braille brushed aluminum unit number signs with Braille We made these custom unit number signs for 314 W 6th St Apartments, a new apartment complex in Downtown Los Angeles. The building is a historic building that is being renovated, so the interior style is a little more vintage as opposed to the modern or contemporary style signs that we make for most apartment buildings.

As you can see from the photos, the signs match the wallpaper. They also match the bronze door jambs and the nickel fixtures which are not pictured here. We have many years of experience making ADA-compliant signs, so we are able to design customized signs that are up to code. All new and renovated public buildings require code signage. If your building does not pass fire inspection, you will not be able to open it to the public so making sure that your signs are up to code is crucial.

Since the numbers are read vertically, we used a vertical brush grain instead of horizontal, so it goes with the direction your eyes would go when reading. The border and the text are made from 1/8″ thick vertically brushed medium bronze. The pieces are routed from a sheet of material and attached to the brushed aluminum panel. We didn’t want to be redundant, but having the unit number laid out horizontally with Braille translation right underneath is required, so we made these components with clear material. This way, the client is able to have the design they want, while still making sure that the signs are up to code.

These unit number signs look great with the interior, and will definitely help the tenant experience. You can check out our website gallery here to see other ADA signs we’ve made.
