Recently, Experience Signs had the opportunity to design, construct and install an impressive Wall Graphic Sign for the Von Braun Civic Center and the Exchange Club of Huntsville Alabama. The intent of the graphic was to enhance a Freedom Shrine designed to educate and remind youth of our freedom heritage.
The image to the left shows the Freedom Shrine prior to the newly designed wall graphic backdrop. The shrine is an impressive collection of documentation that highlights major historical events in the history of the United States of America. The documents span from the 1600s to current day. They include the initial draft of the Bill of Rights and proclamations by President John F. Kennedy.
Given the task to come up with a wall graphic that would enhance the existing shrine and be consistent with not only the heritage of the United States but also reflect the heritage of the city of Huntsville was an exciting project for the experience Signs team. Immediately, we focused on the legend Dr. Von Braun himself to capture both US and Huntsville history. The two connect through the Apollo Space Program. As we iterated the design with representatives from the Von Braun Center and Exchange Club, the approach migrated to leverage the most current rocket being designed to bring humans to Mars. Without Apollo, todays space program would not be possible
The image to the left shows the final wall graphic. The graphic leverages a realistic rendering of the newest rocket that will take humans to Mars. The plume graphic was adapted from a picture of an actual space shuttle launch at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The original graphic was vectorized to project an impressive image as people walk up to and by the shrine.
