One of Experience Signs’ recent projects gave us the opportunity to help a local restaurant named Taziki’s Mediterranean Cafe to update their branding by replacing the existing sign faces with new custom sign faces that included the companies latest logo and colors.
The image to the left shows the Experience Signs crew hard at work installing the new sign faces. The job required replacement of two building sign faces, one over the front door and the other adjacent to the drive through. In addition two faces on the pylon sign were replaced as well.
When the restaurant called, the first thing we did was interview the client to fully understand the important requirements of the job. From there, the design team prepared the customer’s existing graphic artwork for production on on the Graphtec cutter and plotter. For this particular job, cut vinyl was selected for the production method since the required color was available in a high quality Avery vinyl product. The substrate chosen was white 3/16″ poly carbonate. This substrate had the diffusion quality need for the lighted pylon sign and the durability needed to withstand ultraviolet exposure of the sun.
The job itself progressed well without any issues until we attempted to remove the existing building sign faces. Usually, this type sign is designed to allow easy removal and replacement of the faces by removing a side access panel and sliding the faces out and in. In this case, the original sign faces were riveted to the sign frame. Thinking quickly, the Experience Signs team decided to remove the drive thru sign completely and bring it to the shop to completely understand the construction and determine the best way to install the new faces. Because we were able to be nimble and adjust, a very effective solution was developed that allowed us to perform the fix on the front building sign on-site. The client was extremely delighted with the service and product.
