Traditional PVC Vinyl Banner with wind slits.

Let’s first start of by explaining what a vinyl banner is.  A PVC Vinyl banners are primarily used for both indoor and outdoor advertising.  The vast majority of banners are digitally printed on large format printers in one of four methods (aqueous, latex, solvent, and UV).  The weight classes for PVC Vinyl banners can run between 9 ounces to as 22 ounces per square yard.   Some banners are printable on both sides. Most banners also require grommets for installation with the exception of those banners used in banner stands.  Most PVC Vinyl banners have a life span no longer that 4 years outdoors and 6 years or longer if used exclusively indoors.  Large outdoor PVC Vinyl banners require the cutting of wind slits into the banner to prevent the infamous parachuting effect due to high wind resistance which can cause the banner to tear.

Mesh banners on the other hand are perforated so wind can easily pass through them.  Mesh banners eliminate the need for wind slits which makes them ideal for large projects.  This in turn will make mesh banners more aesthetically appealing for such large projects.
