City Signs recently completed a project for 9Round, a fitness center in Pleasanton, CA. The business was looking for a new sign for their building. Working with the customer, City Signs created an illuminated channel letter set that was comprised of the company’s logo and a tag line box at the bottom of the sign. 9Round’s custom sign is flush mounted to the wall of their building suite and includes three different color faces. LEDs are installed inside the letter faces giving the sign a traditional and attractive illuminated appearance.
Much goes in to producing illuminated channel letters because of how much they can be customized, making them a popular choice among customers. Typically mounted to a building face, they often include individual letters, numbers, and logos. Channel letters are usually 5 inches deep and can be flush mounted to the wall or mounted using spacers, providing a small distance from the wall. When mounted with spacers, the signs can be illuminated through the letter faces or from the back of the sign creating a halo effect, also known as “halo illumination.” These signs can be illuminated using neon or LED lights. Almost all new illuminated signs today are made with LEDs because they are long lasting, cost-effective, and use minimal electricity. They have become the new standard for the industry, though some signs are still produced using neon. Channel letters are made up in three parts. The front of the sign that is most visible is made up of pieces called faces, the sides are called returns and the trim that goes around the entire sign that connects the front and sides together is called the trim cap. Channel letters can be ordered in a variety of colors, prints and gradients making them easy to customize. If you are seeking a long-lasting, unique sign that can be seen day or night in front of your business, consider using illuminated channel letters.
