Prime Realty had asked us to do a lighted monument for them back in February. That sign caught the attention of a member of the Moore Chamber of Commerce. When the Orr family started looking for someone to create a sign for an upcoming project destined for this fall’s Oklahoma state fair, it provided a lead for us.

April was the first time I met with Glen Orr, that’s when we started with the initial assessment of what his needs were for this project. We first determined that multiple cabinets would be a much better fit for this project rather than channel letters, in both size and nature. We offered state of the art LED lighting for their benefits of lower power consumption, easy maintenance, and a longer life span. We wanted to be sure that we maintained the family’s existing branding in the first cabinet which was dedicated to the Orr Family Farm logo. The second cabinet needed to be dedicated to the whole purpose of this project of selling cookies and edible cookie dough at the state fair, scrumptious! For the third and fourth cabinets, which advertise their free samples, it was decided that they should be round, after all that is the shape of a cookie. We then placed them on two separate circuits and set them up to be controlled by an RF module to allow for them to be turned on and off and for control of their flashing state which is a great way to catch the attention of fair goers young and old. That just left the decision of where to place these last two cabinets. One was placed next to the first two on the front face of the building, while the other was placed over a sales window around the corner of the Cookie Barn and mounted in a blade or projection style.

Once all of this was decided, it was time to start working on the graphic design for the faces. One of the aspects I enjoyed most about this project was the joint effort put in by the Orr Family Farm executives. Each had valuable input, from what colors and styles would best convey their message to the marketing firm supplying the raw images. Another unique aspect we had on this project was the fact that these signs needed to withstand road vibrations of this mobile Cookie Barn. Our wonderful designer did an excellent job of making sure he took all these things into consideration and worked to ensure these signs will catch the attention of all fair goers coming within one hundred feet of the Orr Family Farm Cookie Barn at the Oklahoma state fair this fall.

When you are at the Oklahoma state fair this year and that sweet tooth gets a hankering for a treat, head to the Orr Family Farm Cookie Barn, you can’t miss it!
