The team at Highland Resources gave us a call to help design and install some wayfinding signs but there were some constraints and issues that needed addressing. We would only have a short time before the ground breaking ceremony commenced to introduce the newest land development project, LaPrada Landing. They also needed a solution to update the sign as the lots were purchased. We were happy to get brainstorming and considered these problems solved!

The client needed two 4’w x 8’h Post and panel signs to help visitors find their way through the development. They wanted to include an artists rendering of the land tracts & their names on the single sided signs while keeping the unprinted backs nice and finished looking. We chose materials that would reflect the high-end nature of their development while ensuring the prospective buyer could find the proper lot.

Since some of the tracts were already sold or pending and some were still available, the client needed a simple solution to update the sign when new tracts were purchased. We opted for a removeable clear sticker option. The client could add the stickers to the finished sign as the lots were purchased. This would eliminate the need to replace the sign each time a new tract’s status changed, but also is an easy way to remove and re-apply without endangering the integrity of the vinyl design underneath.

Post and panel signs are created using just that-posts are attached to a panel that houses the sign graphic. You probably have noticed them all over town, especially in new construction sites. Most are made of MDO or Max-Metal, can be single or double sided, and are installed with wooden or metal posts. The placement of the posts will depend on the number of sides that the graphics are shown. You can sandwich the panel between 2 posts on both sides for a double sided sign so that you do not obstruct the view of the graphic. The posts are also hidden from view. Single sided panels are easily attached by the posts on the opposite or “raw” side of the MDO. The 4×8 MDO sheet can be painted, primed or unfinished and are available in multiple thickness.

Since most post and panel signs utilize the entire sheet of substrate or material panel, the posts should be anchored in with concrete. Although its more expensive than concrete, we use Sika Polyurethane fence post mix. Much easier to use, lightweight, sets up quickly and no water needed. It is a superior product and the signs are able to withstand high winds without falling down.

Sometimes the weather can play a large part in wreaking havor on an otherwise simple install. If your installer is not prepared, tries to install too quickly, they may end up with an huge problem and an unhappy client. We feel that no sign should be installed at a hurried pace and we plan accordingly taking into account the safes and most efficient ways to do our installs before we even leave for the site.

Our team of experts take great pride in their sign creations from design to install having multiple quality control checks throughout the process. One of our team members would love meet with you anytime. Give us a call today at 832-222-9385
