When Tarsha Jackson, owner of The Crate Crossfit approached us about signs for her new business, we were happy to help brainstorm some ideas. Due to the amount of rental space she leased, she had 4 pylon acrylic signs available to advertise in the business centers pylon sign.
Tarsha knew she wanted to utilize her logo for the acrylic signs but due to the orientation and layout of the logo, it offered some challenges. These signs needed to be seen from quite a distance as they were positioned along the busy Westpark Tollway. We also wanted the sign to represent her brand plus have the greatest impact.
Since we felt that duplicating the logo 4 times wasn’t utilizing the space well enough, we created some design options that the client could choose what looked best. She was very happy with our ideas and once approved, we were ready to move forward with production.
The white acrylic inserts for the large marquee pylon measured at 59”Wx17”H. We printed the design on a 3 mil calendered white translucent vinyl with Orafol Orajet 3850 designed for backlit and internally illuminated long term outdoor signs. We also used the matching Oraguard 240 overlaminate.
We needed to remove the existing acrylics from the pylon, clean them and prep for our vinyl installation. Since some pieces had existing vinyl on them, we also had to carefully remove it without breaking the acrylic. Once the acrylic was prepped and ready, we printed, laminated and lay the vinyl down on all 4 acrylic pieces on one side. Now it was ready to schedule the install.
Since the section of the pylon slots for Tarsha was about 14’ high, we chose an extension ladder for the install. This was a two person job to ensure that the acrylic pieces were easily transported from the work vehicle, up the ladder to the installer. We first removed the screws and metal place holders that held the acrylics in place, one at a time. We ensured that the acrylics were facing the correct way before the hand off so that the installer wouldn’t have to turn the sign around while balancing on the ladder. Also, we needed to ensure that the correct verbiage was on the correct side, left or right, before handing off as well.
Our installers are meticulous in the details and won’t stop until it’s 100% perfect as promised! We follow set procedures and take the time to plan so that we can have as few surprises as possible. Safety is of the utmost importance as well for both our installers and handling the client’s signs. Our client loved the finished signs. Here’s what she had to say,
“I just wanted to personally thank you for the upgrade and for taking care of getting my stickers up! And thanks for the extra sticker. I’m going to put it in my lobby! That is great customer service!”
