Project: Stickers and Banners

Bike Virginia was hosting their yearly event in Richmond to raise awareness for their cause. They wanted a large colorful banner for photo opportunities at the end of the race as well as some stickers to hand out to participants. They contacted Toucan Signs and Graphics for guidance, and we were more than happy to offer our design services and print everything on their list!
The biggest piece of the project was of course the banner, at 96″ wide and 48″ tall. It had brass grommets so it could be displayed easily, and was prin ted on 13oz matte finish vinyl material. After deciding on the design, the finalized product was an eye-catching banner that doubled as a photographer’s backdrop. All the participants loved having their photos taken in front of it to commemorate the special occasion. Decals were also designed and printed in a wide range of colors and cut into 4” by 4” rectangles. This is a good size for stickers as it clearly conveys the main text without taking up too much space on the surface it’s adhered to.
The photos show the banner and the stickers we created for Bike Virginia. The decals with the slogan “I (bike) VA” are sharp and in a range of colors to appeal to everybody, like pink, blue, yellow and black. The text was either black or white, depending on what looked best and was most readable against the background color. It also lists the organization’s website for more information about their mission. The banner’s predominate colors were orange and grey. Orange was chosen because of its eye-catching properties, and the predominately gray silhouette of the biker contrasts nicely with the bright hue. The banner also features a large gold ribbon that proclaims “You did it!” where bikers were able to get their pictures taken to remember their accomplishments.
A 501c3 nonprofit, Bike Virginia aims to spread awareness of recreational bicycling – they want everyone in the state, tourists and residents alike, to enjoy this fun outdoor activity. The Bike Virginia Tour 2015 was just one of their outreach efforts to get the word out and raise funds for cycling improvement! They are committed to supporting the community through education and awareness and making biking safer throughout every county in the whole commonwealth.
