There’s Only One Rainbow
These window graphics were manufactured and installed by Signs PDQ for the University Hospital branch in Ashtabula, OH. They show everyone who passes by what is going on in that location. This location is specifically for Ashtabula Pediatrics of UH. The story of both Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Ashtabula Pediatrics is told on these windows both briefly and artistically.
The rainbow on one set of windows is the well known logo of the children’s hospital. The shield, which is the logo for University Hospitals, although not the main part of the window, is significant because it represents the main hospital.
The design of the window was a bit challenging. Before design can begin, Signs PDQ carefully measured the available space that the graphic will be installed. The width of the brick that is between sections of the rainbow had to be designed and placed exactly where it is. The large size of the rainbow logo makes it easier to be sure that the bricks do not impinge on the design. The logo will remain in tact. Text would not be legible in this space and the message would be interrupted.
Text is then designed on the other set of windows. Yes, there are supports present. The key to making the Rainbow message clear is the design of the text around the supports. The graphic photo of the children playing is an eye catcher. Many will notice both windows! The doors also have information printed on the vinyl. This is also important for patients who want to enter and know the hours the location is open.
The public is not able to see through the windows due to the graphics. This is to protect the privacy of the caretakers and patients inside the medical center.
