Spark Signs

Spark Signs & Graphics, owned by Alex Maurer, recently completed a monument sign project for Breakneck Tavern, a local restaurant. This was Breakneck Tavern’s second sign as they already had an existing illuminated channel letter sign on their building. The project consisted of overall project management, designing and fabricating a 4’x4′ two-sided dimensional sign, printing the background vinyl, building a brick planter, and installing the sign. Alex received this job by proactively stopping in to the restaurant to discuss a catering quote for his grand opening. After speaking with the owner and hearing that the new sign project had stalled, he was asked if he could help, and Alex’s answer without hesitation was “yes!”. Some of the monument sign project had to be outsourced, so Alex used a mason who dug the footer, set the rails in concrete, and built the brick planter. He also worked with a local company that fabricated the dimensional sign and then welded it to the rails. An interesting part of this project was Breakneck Tavern’s insistence to use actual railroad tracks as the posts. Sustainability and keeping a link to the area’s history was really important to the owner. In total, the sign took about eight weeks to complete and was valued at $10,600.
