How long does it take to wrap my vehicle?
Though the exact answer will vary based on the size and shape of your car, as well as the complexity of your design, most wraps are completed within 1-2 days. All Signworld partners give clients realistic time estimates for their orders.
How do I wash my vinyl vehicle wrap?
It’s important to care for your vinyl vehicle graphic as you would any fine paint finish. Though vinyl is surprisingly tough, proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure your wrap looks its best and lasts longer.
Wash your wrap as soon as it appears to be dirty. The longer contaminants are left on the graphic, the more difficult they will be to clean.
To wash your wrap, start by rinsing off as much dirt as possible with a hose. Next, apply a wet, non-abrasive detergent and wash using a soft, clean cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly using clean water, then remove all water using a silicone squeegee to prevent water spotting.
Some contaminants require a bit more cleaning effort. Insect splatters, bird droppings, and tree sap often needs to be soaked for several minutes in hot, soapy water. Once the graphic has soaked, use the cleaning method outlined above.
If stains and contaminants persist, you may need to use a heavy-duty bug and tar remover or isopropyl alcohol mixture. While our vinyl graphics are built tough, we always recommend testing any cleaning products on inconspicuous areas first. As always, avoid abrasive tools and intense scrubbing actions.
Can I take my vinyl vehicle wrap through the car wash?
Yes, but brush-style car washes may dull, scratch, or lift the edges of your vinyl graphic. For best results, stick to touchless car washes.
Can I pressure-wash my vinyl vehicle wrap?
Hand washing is preferred, but pressure washing may be used safely under the following conditions:
- Water pressure must be kept below 2000 psi.
- Water temperature must be kept below 180 °F (80 °C).
- Use a 40-degree wide angle spray pattern only.
- Ensure the spray nozzle is held a minimum of 1 foot away from the graphic.
- Ensure the spray nozzle is held perpendicular to the graphic.
How do I restore my vinyl wrap?
Standard restoration techniques can be used so long as the following restrictions are applied:
- Avoid abrasive polishes or cutting compounds.
- Do not apply wave to textured wraps.
- Always test your restoration product on an inconspicuous area first.
How can I store my vinyl vehicle wrap?
Store your wrapped vehicle indoors and cover whenever possible. Like paint, vinyl wraps degrade after prolonged exposure to the elements.
In the daytime, UV rays and atmospheric pollutants take a particular toll on the hood, trunk lid, and roof. At night, acidic pollutants in rain and dew can erode the graphic over time.
If you don’t have the option of garage storage, consider using a cloth car cover.
