Our team is getting more requests for designing, producing, and installing history timeline wall graphics in Los Angeles, CA. Examples include timeline wall graphics for Santa Margarita Catholic High School, a 3D wall mural for the Ontario Fire Department’s training center, and a huge timeline wall mural for QCD.
This time, we worked with CAiA interiors, the excellent L.A. design company working with the Los Angeles Tenth District PTSA. For this project, our client provided us with the graphics and the overall design idea for the timeline wall photo layouts. Our graphic artist took it from there.
With the design finished, technicians manufactured acrylic panels that were installed with wall standoffs for the history points. Conversely, for the photos, we relied on flush-mounted acrylic pieces. The same goes for the 3D header lettering and the year markers. The finished product impresses with the combination of varying depths that create a stunning visual aesthetic.
What Goes Into the Design of Timeline Wall Photo Layouts and Graphics?
Designing a history timeline for a wall display produces an engaging and informative presentation. Whether it is for a classroom, museum, office, or any other space, here are several design steps to take for a visually appealing history timeline.
- Define purpose and scope. What is the purpose of the timeline? Which specific historical events or periods will it cover? Who is the target audience? Most importantly, is the display for educational, informative, or decorative purposes?
- Gather information. Select photos of the historical events, figures, and facts you want to include in the timeline. Our graphic artist can work with you on organizing the content chronologically or thematically. Choose the most significant events or milestones that convey the story you want to tell.
- Choose visual elements. Pick the images, photographs, illustrations, or icons representing each event or period. We recommend using visuals that are high-quality and relevant to the historical context. For example, use a consistent color scheme or design elements to tie the timeline together visually.
Finally, add context and connections. Use arrows, lines, or connectors to show the flow of time and how events are related. Highlight cause-and-effect relationships or critical connections between events.
