StressReliefWindowSign-300x168Window graphics are an effective and inexpensive way to advertise on your storefront windows as well as your vehicle windows, but there are many options to consider. Different materials can be used to either block light or let it shine through. Materials can be applied over a small part or the whole window. And depending on how and where they’ll be used, window graphics can be applied with a low tack adhesive or a static cling material.

Is the decal going on a car window? If so, the tinting on the glass will severely affect the ability to see the decal from the outside. We strongly advise a low tack adhesive and apply the decal to the outside of the car window if it has a dark tint. Window graphics in cars, vans or trucks can be designed as part of a full vehicle wrap or used separately as a “calling card” for your business. “Window perf” material is transparent from the inside but opaque from the outside. Vinyl lettering can obscure your vision, so be sure to work with the designer to determine placement.

Is the decal going on the inside of a storefront window? If so, the tinting will not be as much of an issue as on cars, but will still be a concern depending on the darkness of your window tinting. The inks will be somewhat transparent, but when seen from the outside looking in, the “back lit” problem will be minimized since the inside of the store is usually darker than it is outside. Again, the “perf” material is a good option depending on how much direct exposure to sun your store has. (Custom awnings are another great way to advertising while blocking the light and heat from the sun.)MidModMen-300x229

Is the decal going on the outside of a storefront window? Vinyl graphics work better on the outside but should not be applied unless the temperature is above 55 degrees. These can be as simple as a cut out logo or lettering, or full window coverage using panels of vinyl with custom designs and promotional messages. Materials come in a wide range of colors for custom cut-outs, or sheets can be digitally printed for vibrant 4-color photography and illustrations. In some situations it may be best to do a white print on the back side to make the colors more opaque.
