Are you in the market for hip men’s fashions? Trophies is the name to know. The retailer recently moved locations two doors over from where they used to be. Although it was just a small move, it required a redo of the signage that consisted of etched and frosted glass graphics for retail storefronts in Santa Ana, CA!
Replicating a Successful Signage Presentation
Now at 308 North Broadway, Trophies is a returning client. Our team did the window graphics for the original location. The client invited us to return and replicate the sign design that customers had grown accustomed to. Because we kept the specs on file, creating new prints was quick.
We confirmed the measurements and prepared the glass for the installation. It is interesting to note that we mounted the vinyl graphics and solid stripes on the inside of the window because this particular area has a high graffiti problem. Since the business does an excellent job of keeping customers informed via social media, shoppers already know what to expect.
Having the familiar graphics on the windows of the new location was an ideal way of welcoming them back and assisting with wayfinding.
Window Graphics as Building Signs? Yes!
When you sell products that appeal to the customer on the cutting edge of consumer goods, your signage must follow suit. For this clothing retailer, windows as a building sign makes sense. It makes the brand’s name easy to read even from far away.
Because the frosted stripes take up the upper and lower quarters of the window, they leave two quarters in the middle, where we could feature the etched name. Moreover, there is sufficient see-through space left that shoppers can see inside the store to get a good idea of this retailer’s products.
Protecting a Signage Investment from Damage
Mounting window graphics on the inside of the glass surface is not a typical approach we take because the front of the glass tends to reflect the light and take away from bold colors. However, in this case, it made the most sense. The reflection of the gray vinyl stripes catches the eye of passersby. Since the brand presentation is in the middle of the glass, reflection does not minimize the impact.
However, suppose you are using bold colors, smaller images, and highly-defined lettering that has to be visible even if it is smaller. In that case, we recommend treating your window graphics with an anti-graffiti laminate. While it will not prevent someone from defacing the images, it makes cleanup possible, quick, and easy. Your facade windows will look new even if those on other storefronts are defaced.
